What about CatMech?
The Centre for Advanced Technologies in Mechanics (CatMech) is a research center situated at ESEIAAT of the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya BarcelonaTech. We are specialized in four key areas of mechanics: Microfluidics, Fluid Power, Vibration & Acoustics, and Materials & Structures. Our team of PhDs and technicians is dedicated to pioneering research that not only benefits society but also pushes the boundaries of industrial innovation. We strive to make a significant and positive lasting impact in our field.
Who are the key members of CatMech and what are their research interests?
Our team at CatMech consists of highly qualified researchers with diverse expertise in three areas of mechanics. Some key members include: Jasmina Casals, Lluís Gil, Robert Castilla and Andreu Balastegui, whose research interests span from Microfluidics, Fluids Power, to Material & Structures, and Vibration & Acoustics.
For detailed information about each member and their research, please visit the section “Meet the Team” on our website
What facilities and equipment does CatMech offer for research purposes?
CatMech offers extensive facilities and equipment tailored to support diverse research needs. With three equipped laboratories spanning over 1500 m2, researchers have ample space for conducting a wide array of tests. Specifically, our facilities include 900 m2 dedicated to fluid mechanics, 300 m2 for mechanical testing, and an additional 300 m2 for acoustic and vibration testing. For more information, visit the “About” page on our website.
How can I collaborate with CatMech on research projects?
We welcome collaboration opportunities with researchers, institutions, and companies interested in partnering with us on research projects. To initiate a collaboration, please reach out to us via email at catmech@upc.edu, with a brief proposal outlining the scope of the project and potential areas of collaboration. Our team will review your proposal and get back to you to discuss further steps.
If you are a prospective student (PhD), postdoc, or researcher interested in joining our group, please follow the application procedure outlined in the ‘Students’ section on our website.
